Great Scottish Run Update - March 2009

One week into the training regime and some are doing better than others. The sun shone for at least part of the week so George Bowie and Dr Prockter both managed to crack out a few hours worth out on the pavements of West Central Scotland.
Des McLean opted for excuse number 356, blaming the windy conditions for not being able to pound the streets of Robroyston. He's dressed head-to-toe in state of the art Mizuno kit and looks the part, but has spent his evenings with his trainers resting on the coffee table while he watches re-runs of Rocky movies. He says he'll definitely get out at the weekend. Watch this space!

Friday 20th March 2009

Well it's too late for us to back out now. We have all signed up to take part in this year's Great Scottish Run. There will be a whole squad of us from Radio Clyde doing the 10k together, including Dr Prockter and Des McLean from the Breakfast Show and Gary Marshall and Alan Edwards from Clyde 2.
George Bowie has put his name down for the Half Marathon. George claims that he is running alone because he is a well-trained athlete who will be aiming to set a good time but there is another school of thought, that no-one wants to run with him because he is quite sweaty.
Over the weeks, we'll keep you update on our progress. George and Dr Prockter are seasoned runners but Gary is a first-timer and Des hasn't had his trainers on in anger since last September.
Well done if you have put your name down for the race, make sure you get in touch with us on Clyde1.com/Bowie to let us know and good luck with the preparations.
